The Ultimate Guide to Repurposing Content in 2025: One Video, 15+ Pieces of Content
Ever feel like you're drowning in content creation? Like you should be on TikTok, LinkedIn, Facebook, and a dozen other platforms, but there simply aren't enough hours in the day? I get it! As a small business owner or solo operator, the pressure to "be everywhere" can be overwhelming, especially when social media isn't your strength.
But what if I told you there's a streamlined system to turn one video into 15+ pieces of content across 7+ platforms? And that AI has completely transformed how efficiently we can create and distribute content in 2025?
Why Repurposing Content Is Essential in 2025
Let's talk about why repurposing content isn't just a nice-to-have but an absolute must in today's digital landscape:
It saves you time with a strategic workflow
When I first considered starting my podcast, I put it off for about a year because I thought, "I can't handle any more extra things!" But what actually happened surprised me. Creating that one hero piece of content each week made me more disciplined and gave me material I could cut up into multiple content pieces across different platforms. It made my life easier, not harder!
It increases your visibility
I love when people say, "Deb, you're everywhere!" That means I'm doing exactly what I aim to do. What we think is repetitive messaging is actually providing the gentle reminders people need. Remember, your audience isn't hanging out in just one place online.
It boosts your SEO
With AI now becoming the dominant way we search (think ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google's evolving search), search engines need to see relevant content across multiple platforms. They look for what we call E-E-A-T: Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trust. When search engines see you creating current content on your blog, LinkedIn, YouTube, and other platforms, your ranking score goes up significantly.
It increases conversion rates
People are bombarded with over 10,000 messages daily. The marketing funnel isn't linear anymore—it's a constant loop of evaluation where people need multiple touchpoints before making a decision. According to Google's research (the 7-11-4 rule), it takes seven hours of consuming your content over 11 different touchpoints across four different locations to move someone from stranger to buyer.
It accommodates different learning styles
Did you know 65% of us are visual learners? We absorb information better when it comes in different formats. Some people connect with video, others with audio, and some prefer reading. By repurposing content across formats, you're meeting people where they learn best.
My Simple System for Repurposing Content
Here's my step-by-step method for turning one piece of content into many:
1. Start with a hero video (ideally a video podcast)
This doesn't need to be a two-hour production like the Mel Robbins Show or Diary of a CEO. A simple 5-minute video of you talking about a topic that helps your audience is perfect! If you did just four of these a month (20 minutes total recording time), you could generate over 80 pieces of content marketing.
2. Research before you record 🔍
This is the step most people miss! Before I even hit record, I research my topic thoroughly. It's like painting a house—if you don't prep the walls properly, you'll have a terrible paint job. I use Perplexity AI to find the top questions people are asking about my topic, which helps me create content that actually answers what people want to know.
3. Record your video and export three key files
After recording, I edit in CapCut (a free and powerful editor) and export:
-
An MP4 (video file)
-
An MP3 (audio file)
-
A transcription (text of what I said)
These three files become the foundation for everything else.
4. Create long-form content first
Long-form content stays around longer and does the heavy SEO lifting. From my hero video, I:
-
Upload the video to YouTube with an AI-optimized title and description
-
Upload the audio to my podcast platform
-
Create a blog post from the transcription
-
Publish a LinkedIn newsletter article
-
5. Then create short-form content
Using CapCut's AI features, I can automatically generate up to 20 short clips from my hero video with a single click. I usually find 3-4 really good clips that I can share throughout the week on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
6. Add visual elements
I use Canva to create thumbnails for all my content, and Napkin AI to transform written content into eye-catching infographics (remember, 65% of us are visual learners!).
7. Schedule everything
I use Vista Social to schedule all my content across platforms. What I love about Vista Social is that I can reply to comments from all platforms in one place, add trending music to short clips, and access detailed analytics.
The Tech Stack You Need
You don't need expensive equipment or complicated software. Here's what I use:
-
Recording: StreamYard (but Zoom or even CapCut's Chrome extension work too)
-
Editing: CapCut
-
AI Assistant: Perplexity Pro ($20/month—"literally the best assistant I've ever had")
-
Graphics: Canva and Napkin (free)
-
Scheduling: Vista Social
But What If My Business Isn't "Interesting" Enough?
I hear this all the time! "I'm a cafe owner" or "I'm an accountant—why would I do a video podcast?"
Here's the truth: it doesn't matter what your business is. There's an opportunity for you to create valuable long-form content that resonates with your audience. I follow an eye doctor on YouTube with millions of subscribers—literally one of the most "boring" industries, yet his content is engaging and helpful!
The key is to modify the approach to fit your business needs and speak directly to your audience's questions and challenges.
Remember what the head of AI video said: "AI won't take your jobs, but people using AI will." What used to take days to create can now be done in hours, at a quality level we've never seen before.
